This website I left in memory of my dad, Gene Garretson. In the last
few months he fought with life pretty hard. He waited until my fiancee got here from L.A. to get ready to leave this world.
I wanted to save this site as much as possible and will be making changes to it gradually so dad can still see people enjoying his music.
From here he will tell you about his life in music .....................Thank You for Listening!
When I started writing orchestral scores of
various types of music as a hobby, I simply recorded the performances on audio cassettes
for my own enjoyment. But then I decided to make my music notation program 'Finale' export
them as MIDI files so I could put them on my web page for others to enjoy. The music I put
here is often rather symphonic, and I'm not surprised.
My background includes Bachelor and Master's degrees in music
theory and composition, and I played professionally for several years in symphony
orchestras as well as pit orchestras for opera and Broadway musicals. I try to make my
arrangements express what the music means to me in a personal way, and I hope
sophisticated music lovers will enjoy hearing them as much as I enjoy writing them.
